My name is Jonathan DeAngelis, I am a photographer and artist based in Providence, RI.  I graduated from the University of Vermont in 2014 with a dual BA in History and Studio Art.  I have shown his work in galleries in both Vermont and Rhode Island, including the Dudley H. Davis Center Gallery, Colburn Gallery, South Gallery, and Better Off.

Conceptually I often work with ideas of identity and allegory.  I often look to explore the relationship between types of spaces and the socio-cultural impact they have on the artifacts housed within them, as well with the viewer.  In my most recent series, [alexandria], I examine the museum as a space and the effects of removing cultural artifacts from their original context.  I am also greatly interested in ideas surrounding masculinity, queerness, and gender performance.
